Interventional Radiology Treatment of Lung and Kidney Cancers
We also offer targeted, minimally invasive therapies directed at treatment of selected cancers to the lung and kidney. Obviously, surgery and chemotherapy is the preferred treatment to treat or remove the cancer from the body in hopes of a cure. In some cases, chemotherapy is ineffective or surgery cannot be performed because the disease is too widespread, involves critical structures, or the patient is not well enough to undergo major surgery or general anesthesia.
Some tumors within the lung and kidney can be treated with radiofrequency ablation (described above). Embolization is sometimes used prior to surgery to control bleeding.
